BEST IDEA EVER MADE <<<<<<<<<<-winnar@

I was gona post this last week but I was sick, now bear with me boys, how about a game... wait for it...
thats like mario kart irl sort of!!!
We could have helium filled balloons attached to out backs somehow, probably with either a stick or a string, and let three of these balloons hover above our heads.
We could then have specially made "paper wasps" that the players can carry around with them, in order to shoot the balloons down. These paper wasps could have paper clips attached to the front to ensure that the ballons explode on impact.
To involve technology we could have the playersin a large space like the city, and each player has an i phone with a tracking device or gps of some sort to let each player know where the other players were. This could allow for a larger range than would normally be tollerated in a game like this.
Also it would involve tactic as people could parkour to get to cool hiding places or areas that people woudnt think to look so they have the upper hand :)
The aim of the game would be to take out other peoples balloons, and avoid having your balloons being taken out.
Once a person has had their 3 balloons popped, they are out of the game, and the last person standing wins, the runners up would be based on who was taken out of the game last etc.
Let me know what you guys think of this idea as id love some feedback :D
Scincerely, your friendly neighbourhood badass, Steve.

  1. We could use remote control cars with the balloons attatched! Though this would probably have to be on a smaller scale making the technology more redundant.. but it would likely increase the exertion because u'd be chasing the cars. Im thinking like teams of 2, 1 shooter and 1 driver lol. Does a remote control car count as computer technology? :P

  2. also jeff was talking about a pervasive game using camera phones as the weapon of choice. mibee if the paper wasp thing was too much of a safety concern we could use phones to "shoot" the oponent, like in "killer" and then send the photo to the opponent in a msg, forcing them to pause, take down a balloon and have like a time out for a number of minutes (equivalent to being shaken the hell up after damage in actual mario cart) before rejoining the action.

  3. Balloons, remote control helicopters and cars, GPS, ....you have great ideas! Hack one together in a couple of hours and try it out so you'll have something to show! (I thought about attaching a helicopter to a jogger with s piece of string so the jogger has something to chase, or a remote control car in front of skiers, or attaching a laser to one of them as pointer...)
    Can't wait to see it!

  4. Sup i just checked on the price of hand held GPS units in Jaycar and the only one the guy had was like $80 bout the size of ur average mobile and they need either a phone or computer to send their data to so u can use it.. that IS within budget but cant tell how effective wit would be with our phones without buying it first thats the only issue i have with it. and it is ratherr expensive i guess. everyones thoughts?

  5. also, wonder if you could hack a laser challenge set so that it would tell an arduino or phidget it was hit.. then have it on the back of a remote control car! lol 2 joggers, one to steer the car, another with the laser gun.. EPIC WIN! then iuno, make up ur own rules for the game with the aruino or phidget.

  6. also, as we're basing it on mario cart.. dress up should be mandatory.. or atleast colour coding.. mibee we need teams?!

  7. I've got a GPS blueooth receiver, but don't know if it still works and you might to get the power supply...

  8. So if we got the handheld unit we could use the receiver instead of the phone/computer? that'd be cool backup if it doesnt run smoothly on one of our phones. cheers floyd :)

also people i went to get/check out some wooden dowel stuff that we could attach balloons to but the hardware joint near me was shut so mission fail. Anyone who could check, that'd be pro!

another thing, ive spent a good part of the last 24 hrs shooting paper wasps and elastic bands at a balloon in my room and that shit just wont pop! so balloons are tim proof apparently. i dont think we could go ahead with putting pins or sharp points on them if we're playing in a public arena either so i think we need to scrath that idea and move forward with somthing else.

  9. That was what I was afraid of. On the other hand if we were to use an RC Helicopter, we could just tape a thumbtack (sharp point, but the point isn't very long, so even in the event of the helicopter flying into someone, the damage won't be as severe. Also, maybe goggles or sunglasses?)

  10. true, should we just go out on a limb and invest in one helicopter and see how much fun that is? if we're gonna we best do it 2moz and try it out so we can alter plans if it doesnt go as well as we hope

  11. Alright. I'll see if I can locate one of those hobby shops on the way back from uni, they should have some cheap helicopters. (Cheap being around $20, predicted)
